Tippy One of my Old Girl Chooks She's nearly 10 years old A Black Astrlorp "Chooks have backbones much better suited to weeding than humans, and they will appreciate the task much more than you will". Linda Woodrow:The Permaculture Home Garden
REminds me. As a child we ate chooky eggs...soft boiled with toasty soldiers. Is this where the name came from? LOL I love her. She is so beautiful. YOur litul chikun.
Dot She's getting slower nowdays but she seems quite happy scratching around. Blue She was called Tippy because when she was little she had white tips on her tail. LOL didn't realise then that they grew out!! No more white tips, anyway the name stuck! Sheila Yes she's wise like the other old girls! They don't run madly around like the younger chooks do in the heat!
Lottie They are a tough Aussie breed I have 4 of these old black ones left 3 of them still lay occasionally but not Tippy anymore but thats OK she's still a good worker in the garden. Mrs N Chooks are fun to name aren't they!
Wendy Sure if you come and get her!! But I don't think she'd cope too well on the trip back or in your climate, she's not used to rain!!!!
Leonie and Lilymarlene She actually looks better in this photo! She is showing her age! Some of these old chooks seem to hang on forever but at least they are happy!

She is is great - and such beautiful colours.
Her longevity must be down to her breed, your care, and perhaps the nice weather you get out there.
Oh, bringing back memories of my first hens, Madge and Mavis...named after our mums.
Love the colours.
